Established in 1880
Quondong Wahgunyah is a 30 acre property adjoining the Murray River State Forest. The Property consists of the historical 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom Homestead and sauna that was thoughtfully renovated in 2020, paying careful attention to honour the history of the home, as well as a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom newly renovated Cottage with an extensive deck overlooking the lagoon and forest.
The property boasts extensive gardens and lawn areas designed by renowned landscape architect Kathleen Murphy and is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings. Quondong is a place to reconnect with nature, to slow down and savour the simple joys of life.
Built in the 1880’s by an English born merchant as a country retreat, our heritage property is set alongside the Sunday Creek and is ideally situated just a short three hour drive from Melbourne and an easy 40 minute drive from Albury/Wodonga.
Nestled in the heart of the Rutherglen Wine Region in North East Victoria. Quondong is a luxury oasis that has all the features of a 5 star hotel. Located just off the famous Distillery Road that boasts 3 beautiful cellar door's including Cofield's, Pfeiffer's and the new Richard Buller wineries.
A short bike ride away you will discover the famous All Saints Estate & Campbells of Rutherglen.
Quondong has a tranquil sense of escape whilst being immersed within the farmlands around one of Victoria's best wine regions and less than 500 meters away from the mighty Murray River.
Take a 30 minute drive and you will find yourself surrounded by the action of Yarrawonga & Lake Mulwala offering adrenaline pumping water sports, golf at Black Bull Golf Course, the 45 hole Yarrawonga and Border Golf Club and the beautiful Rich Glen Provedore.
Take a 45 minute walk along the riverside track through Wahgunyah to Corowa where you can enjoy coffee, breakfast or treats from the award winning whisky and chocolate factory.
Whilst guests are spoilt for choice with things to do around Quondong; most guests find it difficult to leave the farm grounds as the property itself has so much to offer. From the moment you step inside you will be in awe of the comfort and feel of our beautifully renovated and restored properties. From the well furnished living spaces to the luxurious bedding and robes. You will find the attention to detail is unsurpassed and a key reason why our guests always return.
Outside our guests can choose from a wide array of designated seating areas, each with their own incredible view of the property's manicured gardens and rustic waterways. Children are spoiled for choice with multiple sand pits, secret gardens, tree houses and climbing frames. Even the busiest children will find a space to fall in love with. It could be engaging with the roaming chickens and their daily egg collection, the many bikes available to explore the tracks around the farm or find their calm on the swings, hammocks and cubby-houses spread across the property.
Guests planning a longer stay will love our custom wood fired pizza oven. With our tried and tested pizza dough recipe, guests find the pizza making process fun for the whole family. If cooking isn't your forte, guests can purchase the delicious “Blacksmith” Pizza bases from Rich Glen Provedore in Yarrawonga and have the same result with no mess or fuss.
The property also boasts a BBQ area and outdoor kitchen that is perfect for feeding large groups whilst our two fully equipped kitchens will satisfy even the most fussy of chefs.
During the warmer months guests of all ages enjoy the swimming pool and sun lounges along with fishing and canoeing in our private lagoon.
During the cooler months you will find fire pits and fully stocked wood piles around almost every corner.
